Futureoftheocean prizes STEM Ambassador Hub & DNVGL Oil&Gas

Futureoftheocean is pleased that Marius participated as a STEM ambassador at St. Machar Academy’s Career Fair in Aberdeen on 11 February 2020.

Thank you very much to STEM Ambassador Hub for facilitating the access at this event and to DNV GL Oil & Gas for giving Marius all the support needed.

Marius discussed with the pupils of St. Machar Academy about living and working at, in, and on seas and oceans...

He told them about the achievements of previous and current generations and what they can do in future.

The pupils of St. Machar Academy were interested to learn about many topics including subsea mining, ocean farming and subsea hospitality. Their curiosity didn’t stop at seas and oceans, they showed a great deal of interest in the space elevator project, Sir Arthur C. Clarke’s idea for building an effective foundation for space works.

If these students are encouraged to engage with STEM, all of society will benefit. The oceans and the maritime industry will have a great future.

However, Marius noted that these young people are not aware of some of achievements of the maritime industry and this is something where we can do more to increase awareness.
